IMAGERY:

Definition: Imagery is word pictures that use any of the five senses: sight, sound, taste, smell and touch.


Some examples from The Wizard of Oz:


1.  “But Dorothy was not convinced, so she knocked on Tin Man’s chest to see if he was really hollow. What she heard startled her: boom . . . boom    . . . boom! “ (p. 210). (Mobile) (Flash)






2.  “The shine and glitter of the place was overwhelming. She saw bright yellow flowers atop blue stems, white puffy clouds skimming the turquoise sky, and cheery little red houses all lined up neatly around the square.
