THEME:

Definition: The theme is the author’s message. It is meant to be the lesson learned or moral of the story. In the end, it is the wisdom you get from the story.

The Wizard of Oz:

Dorothy after running away from home, learns that, “There is no place like home.” Ultimately this lesson is learned because she spends time away from those who love her and take care of her. She does not realize this truth until she is without those people. She went to the Wizard for help, to try to solve her problem of being dissatisfied with her life, but as it turned out, the answer was inside her the whole time -- to appreciate what you have at home and not always think there is something better “out there.” (Mobile) (Flash)
