Day 6, 7, 8, 9: cont...Understanding the Components That Make Up A Computer. (80 Min)

Purpose: Students will understand the purpose and value of computer components based on the user's need.

First, have students look at the ads again with their partners. Ask them to develop theories as to why some computers are mush more expensive than other computers. Compare with group...then with class.
Then ask if any of the students have a Mac. Why did you buy a Mac? What is the difference?

Project: Two students will play the roll of two separate fictional characters who are in the market for a computer and have specific needs. During this class period, each students will select which fictional character they want to be and then begin researching and building a computer online. The goal is to meet the needs of the fictional character, but for the least amount of money possible.
Tomorrow, the student will have to explain to a fictional entity (the rest of the class) why they should pay for this worthwhile investment. The class will then vote for the better computer purchasing plan.
Winner gets a prize...to be determined.
